Four paintings, one for each season, so far Winter, Spring and Summer are finished and only Autumn now awaits.

117. POHÁDKA

Stories I told myself that got me painting again after a long gap. With much rethinking and endless revisions, some fell by the wayside. 117.1, 117,3, 117.2 are intended as a triptych (in that order) 

118. FLOATING

Part of my long-term fascination with Korea (see 116), A geological excavation of a dream.

120. MANDALA

A homage to a parted friend. This is the final version; an early version surprised me with echoes of a painting by Poussin. The companion piece, as if viewed from within the main painting, was mapped out in 2020 but not painted until February 2025 and as of March is not the final state.

Small Ikon-like paintings for Muses, Goddesses, and Spirits. 

Started in 2021, expecting that each would link to the next, early on, the relay was broken when some were baulked or fell at hurdles. But I still picked up the pieces, so far six have finished, and one is coming up fast. With more intent to join in.

Plečnik is the keystone in the relationship to modernism that I still uneasily practice. This painting began with a 2012 drawing made after looking into a private part of his work on Prague Castle, an elusive mix of Memory, Illusion, Reflections, and False Perspectives of all kinds.
