108. VODŇANY

I did a small painting of an old bridge in Vodňany: this was the starting point. I made 7 paintings that reflected different aspects. The problem was to get them to work individually and together, so whilst I had finished versions done within a year, they did not work together and frankly some were not good enough. After 5 years at an exhibition in Czech Republic in 2013 I was content with what I saw on the wall.

110.  KRÁJENÍ UTOPIE

This large painting was worked on from 2009 to 2013, a translation could be Slicing Utopia.  The text is by my friend Luboš Vinš. 

111. OSSIAS FOR DANCING

A set of variations. I took a small part of one painting from ‘Vodňany‘ to make the first Ossia. The material is in 9 layers so by changing the order I developed the structure for 14 new paintings. They need to be seen together to comprehend my intentions.

112. IDEAL LANDSCAPES

Tributes to the classical landscape tradition of Poussin. So far have finished 4 that I am happy with and 3 shown here.

113. OKRAJ LESA

These paintings were all painted on a path along the edge of a forest, all produced not far from each other. Whilst I gave myself considerable licence to get the atmosphere and structure I wanted, you could still probably recognise the exact spot.

114. ECHOING PATHS

Echoing Path (Cesta s odrazy) and In Memoriam Luboš are both tributes to my friend Luboš, who died in 2014.

VARIOUS DRAWINGS 2002-2008

Czech Republic, a small selection from sketches and ink drawings. They vary from things done quickly in sketch books to large ink drawings on watercolour paper. I will be adding more in the coming months.
